Also LOL last thing I promise, I do highly recommend watching Into the Unknown: Making Frozen II. While it’s about animation in the states, it is a very good look into how animation pipelines work and how all the obstacles that a production faces impact the final product.

Also bringing this back up lol. From a western animation perspective, it is rare that the animation takes the same direction of the source material due a wide range of reasons including limited time (90 mins or 12 episodes) and wanting to stand out as a creative studio/make it your own.
It’s just so intriguing to me too I think bc in feature animation there is not as much emphasis on this concept that it has to be EXACTLY the same. It’s more so inspired by (think almost all Disney animated princess films). So to me, I’m like well of course it’s different LOL.

Just re-quoting this post I made months ago because it’s relevant. I still stand by this. I still personally prefer re-telling over 1 to 1 adaptations because we get new scenarios and interactions to build off of. It is a personal preference though. My favorite version of SM is the PGSM soo 😅
On my mind again bc of Stargaze discussions, but it always surprised me that in online fandoms for anime/manga’s there is a heavy emphasis on 1 to 1 adaptations. For me personally, I have always preferred it when the adapted media makes changes. It gives me new content and keeps it fresh.

I am starting a studio! We are small and scrappy and have no money. Why am I doing this? Because the only ones who can protect art are the ones who value it. Disney using AI? Yuck. Netflix buying WB? Also yuck. In 10 years what is even going to be left.

Also Scarlet is in IMAX in the US today!!! Here were some pictures of when I did a closet cosplay for AWA of her! I was so happy a few people recognized her! The movie is great and I highly recommend you see it if it’s playing near you! Some of the most interesting backgrounds I have ever seen!
