I looked at Instagram today and was overwhelmed by imposter syndrome. Some days it feels silly that I do this work in my humble space with no “industry” connections. But I am eternally grateful for the people who trust me with their music and will always work hard to make the best record possible.

Watching the roll out of a record I worked on is one of my favorite parts of the job. The second single from the new Savage Master is on Bandcamp now. Check it out if you like catchy traditional metal with a goth spin.

Spending even more time with Bandcamp lately. Going through entire record label discos and enjoying the benefits excellently curated selections of music. This week it’s Inscrutable. All of it is good, but my personal fave is Famous Mammals. Check inscrutablerecords.bandcamp.com

My new single is on streaming services now because I’d like it to be accessible. Give it a listen if you like fuzzy guitar pop.

Read Mood Machine and canceled Spotify. As someone with music on Spotify. I knew that the only people making money on the platforms were the owners. The way streaming is altering music culture and putting music in contexts the artist never intended is gross. Thanks @lizpelly.bsky.social

The studio keeps getting busier and I’m so stoked. Last week I recorded a doom band and mixed it on hardware and I sent a test mix to a dream client for a potential album remix job. I’ve been working towards this for years and it feels like this year could lead to good things.

I listened to the new GBV record today and can’t wrap my head around how Bob Pollard has written 40+ albums that are all good and have at least one track that should be an indie rock all-timer.

Wish I had more pictures, but I spent the last two days with Lungsplitter, a doom band from Chicago. I love a chance to record big amps at high volumes. Guitars are a Sovtek Mig 100 and Peavey 5150 each into an Acoustic 403. Bass is a Terror Bass into an Ampeg V-2 with Celestion Pulse drivers. BIG

Really enjoyed mastering this comp curated by Krime Slugs. A game of telephone, but with a song. Some lyrics and a guitar line were passed to the first artist who then had to pass them on to the next and so on. Knuckles on Stun has 25 of these available on transparent pink cassette!

This is the sort of situation that doesn’t get solved through legal channels right? Trump and Musk don’t seem worried about the legality of what they are doing, why are the dems talking about committees and impeachments?Impeaching him didn’t do anything the first time.

New Savage Master! The video for Dark and Dangerous is on Shadow Kingdom’s YouTube now. I had the pleasure of working with the band to record this and the rest of their new album last year. Arthur Rizk mixed and mastered it. Killer heavy metal, check it out! youtu.be/thgVIyS_mfk?...

Working on songs for my solo project with the rule that the DAW can only be used as a tape machine, and it’s bringing back all the good feelings of my earliest recording experiences with a Portastudio. You can listen to the song here: sparkleteeth.bandcamp.com/track/outta-...

Working with Pharohound, a groove/death metal band today and we’re tracking the basics live. There’s nothing that sounds quite like a well rehearsed band going “straight to tape”. I think it captures a lot of nuance that gets lost with conventional instrument by instrument recording.

Watching this today while I build a website for a client. Citizen Sleeper is one of my all time favorite video games. Can’t wait for CS2 next week.
Citizen Sleeper was one of my favorite games of 2022 and easily one of my favorites ever made, so Chelle & I are going to finally stream through the full game!

Hopefully we'll be able to cruise through it before the sequel launches on Jan 31st!

Finished Technofeudalism by Yanis Varoufakis. I don’t know his politics, but I do agree with what he has to say about Technofeudalism replacing capitalism. Good read if you want to understand why the broligarchs are dangerous. It also has a great explanation of crypto.
