Spent the morning trying to get the “front yard” into shape. If it looks at all like I know what I’m doing. I absolutely fucking do not.
In fact, pretty sure I bought a house that I’m not capable of maintaining (plant wise) at the standards of the previous gardener owner. But I’ll do my best.

Spent the morning trying to get the “front yard” into shape. If it looks at all like I know what I’m doing. I absolutely fucking do not.

Follow-up: And the drawer has been opened 🙌! I expect it’s been 50+ years, based on the layers of paint and hardware.
Next: need to completely redo the drawer, and probably new sliders/hardware, and then to try getting the cabinet front in shape. 🤪

More old house bullshit fixed: house has a standalone oven area embedded in a wall, but it’s not straight at all and they put baseboards all the way around, making the opening less than the required 30 inches.
Removed baseboards on side, cut remaining, repaint, trim 🙄. Ugly, but whatever.

Door exploded when I hit a screw trying to re-bore the hole.
Pieces flew past my face and chunks landed all over.
I managed to collect the pieces and rebuild it (wood bondo). Literally looks like shit, but it works.
Gotta pretty it up.

Another project: Home came with a primary main bedroom closet with a very large and impractical built-in, and no lighting.
Demolished the built-in, applied shaker paneling to protect the lathe and plaster walls. Smart light on a cheap corded fixture.

Today’s “this old house” project: The house had a very awkward cabinet right next to the oven, which a previous owner had nailed/painted shut decades ago.
Went with a tambour door. Took hours of sweating, fabricating parts, pain and endless self-doubt, but it’s installed and shocker: it works!
