@bphillipsonmp.bsky.social & Stephen Morgan and await responses. School-based nurseries are rated lower than childminders & do NOT give children the best start. We guess like schools, they will be understaffed & their staff undervalued & underpaid.

@bphillipsonmp.bsky.social & the Department for Education to destroy the childminding sector by underfunding childminders (& private nurseries) to the point where the only option parents/carers have is sub-standard school-based nurseries.

Here's the email we sent to the Secretary of State for Education - @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social & @stephenmorganmp.bsky.social this morning. It's outrageous that they and other MPs have been stating that school-based nurseries give children the 'best start to life'.

IPPR warns: at current rate of decline, there will be no childminders left by 2033! 98% of childminders were rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted - the highest of any childcare setting, including school-based nurseries. So why is gov't underfunding & undermining this quality, local option? #childcare
