🔥 2024 was a year of deep uncertainty — but also of unwavering resistance.
Across West Africa, LGBTQI+ communities stood firm in the face of unprecedented attacks. From Nigeria to Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Côte d’Ivoire, the year tested our collective endurance.

September 26, 2025 at 8:56 AM
✨ On World Contraception Day, we remind the world that queer people in West Africa also deserve full access to reproductive health and contraception without stigma, without shame, without exclusion.

💜 Today, on Bi Visibility Day, we celebrate bi joy, bi love.
Being bisexual in Africa often means living in silence or erasure.
It’s a bold resistance against binaries forced upon our bodies, our loves, and our desires.
To our bi siblings: you are seen, you are valid, you are revolutionary. 🌈✨

Young feminists & queer activists are not the future—we are the present.

🗣️ A feminist future needs more than token inclusion. It demands resources, shared power & intergenerational solidarity.

The Global South is a hub of resistance shaping change. 🌍 To sustain these frontline movements, donors and allies must shift power to local activists, trust indigenous solutions & provide long-term, flexible support.

Convenings aren’t just for strategy —they’re spaces of care, support & solidarity that keep movements strong. But in Africa, they’re too few & often inaccessible due to high costs & visa barriers.

🚨 We need more accessible, community-driven spaces to connect & mobilize!

🚨 Anti-gender groups weaponise feminist & human rights language to push harmful agendas—claiming to protect women and "family values" while attacking gender justice and LGBTQI+ rights. We must unite across movements to counter this. ✊🏾

Despite driving transformative change, youth-led feminist and LGBTQI+ organisations receive less than 1% of global financing, making it difficult to sustain their work.

🚨Funders must invest in bold, sustained support for youth-led movements.
