Mandating a city spend a specific percentage of its budget on policing (in this case 25%) is unwise at best, especially considering crime is low right now.

Now the agency has quietly ended its body camera program, citing a Trump executive order.

The DEA Once Touted Body Cameras for Their “Enhanced Transparency.” Now the Agency Is Abandoning Them.
An internal email obtained by ProPublica said the agency made the change to be “consistent” with a Trump executive order. But at least two other federal law enforcement agencies are still requiring bo...

Hi, local police expert here telling you this is not just bad, but outright destructive. There's so many things wrong in here (or outright illegal) that I'm not sure where to start.

Having senior law enforcement candidates respond to whether or not they believe the 2020 election was stolen or if the J6 insurrection is an "inside job" is dangerous. These jobs shouldn't be conditioned on partisan stances. but Trump has always prioritized loyalty above all else.

NEW — OMB temporarily pauses all agency grants and loans programs.

Per copy of memo: "The use of Federal resources to advance Marxist equity, transgenderism, and green new deal social engineering policies is a waste of taxpayer dollars that does not improve the day-to-day lives of those we serve."

People on my town FB page are like "DID YOU FEEL THAT EARTHQUAKE?!" and I didn't notice anything. I suppose that's a good thing? Or maybe I'm just oblivious when I'm focused on writing (aka browsing the web).

I realized this morning--and it's kind of sad, really--that I have a "first day of classes" outfit. And to make it worse, it's the typical, middle age White guy, smart casual look: three-quater zip sweater over dress shirt and dark jeans.

I may need to reup my Stitch Fix subscription.
