Senior Lecturer in Earth System Modelling at University of Bristol, Senior Research Fellow in Climate Science at UCL, Tutor in Climate Science at University of Oxford. Interested in all things climate change, France and food. Views entirely my own.
I'm sorry, but I really can't condone this. Although I completely agree with the principle and understand their motivation, I can't agree with the methods. This does NOT help our cause.

I'm in 2 minds about this. I think, on balance, I would say yes the summits do have a point - if only to keep public awareness and momentum high, even if politically they achieve very little.

Do UN climate talks have a point any more?
The US president is notably absent from these UN climate talks, as are other world leaders, all of which prompts questions about the purpose of COP today.

Yes, we are moving in the right direction. But we need to move much, much faster.

Again, I don't especially like blowing my own trumpet, but today is officially my first day as permanent Departmental Tutor at OUDCE, University of Oxford. It isn't very different to what I've been doing for the last 5 years as Associate Tutor, but still nice to be permanent!

Absolutely ridiculous. Even if I was thinking of voting for them (and I really wasn't), this alone would convince me not to.

🚨Very pleased to share some good news - I was recently promoted to Senior Lecturer at Bristol (@bristoluni.bsky.social‬), officially "Senior Lecturer in Earth System Modelling". I really don't like blowing my own trumpet, but sometimes it is perhaps warranted?🚨

Summer is coming, and babies seem to be everywhere.

Canada Goose: "What yer lookin at, mate? Come near my kids and I'll ave yer, I will."

Mute Swan: "There there, sweeties, I know it's a big scary world, but you have to come out sometime."

Mallard ducklings: "Mummyyyyyy!!!"

Too bloody right & about bloody time! I would've gone much further, but I can see why the Govt didn't - because they're too afraid of losing votes to people who would rather go back to British Empire, stirred up by brood of vipers in Reform and Tories. #UKEUSummit

Exciting news: I've been offered a permanent part-time position at Uni of Oxford, as 'Departmental Tutor'. No different to what I've been doing for last few years, i.e. teaching an online course in Climate Science. Not much to brag about, & at 7% time it's not exactly my dream, but still nice!
