does anyone else who struggles with fathers/mother’s day struggle more with the influx of “don’t want our emails” emails than they do the actual emails themselves?? or just me

one of my favourite #RaceAcrossTheWorld things is when they all run off from the start line as if 1) they know where they’re going 2) aren’t racing for many weeks

I’ve been nudged by the production team for the ‘Great British Sewing Bee’ to say they are looking for ND / disabled folk for the next series of the show.

We know today may feel especially heavy for our trans and non-binary siblings.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or affected by the UK Supreme Court’s decision, please know you’re not alone. We’re here for you every day from 10am to 10pm.

Kidlit colleagues, just a reminder that JK Rowling *funded* this challenge over the definition of women at the Supreme Court. Every time you choose to work with her, platform her, take a stance that aligns with her, buy her books, nominate her for more awards, she uses that and funds hate.

✍🏻 me for @thecanaryuk.bsky.social on the benefit cuts as a feminist issue
Make no mistake: disability benefit cuts are a feminist issue

Women are more likely to be disabled, and often left undiagnosed or without the support they need for longer. It is also women who commonly bear the brunt of state underfunding.

Make no mistake: disability benefit cuts are a feminist issue
Women are more likely to be disabled, and often left without support for longer. And now, they have disability benefit cuts as well.

At the heart of every attack on disability benefits is the myth disabled people “get perks”: a free car, loads of cash, a life off work. It misrepresents the reality of disability, whilst exploiting low wages and high living costs to make the public envy people in daily pain.

guess who’s part of the meta scrape! very upsetting as an anti-AI author. libgen is a useful resource and I’d honestly rather people had the info in my book than not but that’s not the same as a scrape this huge for thousands of authors

“Under the rule of the Conservatives, I felt under threat… But, even after all of that, I’ve never felt as dehumanised as I do now, under Labour’s current rhetoric and reforms.”

Demonising disabled people is not a moral duty
As the government unveils its benefit reforms, including tightening who receives the PIP (Personal Independent Payment), disabled journalist Charli Clement says there will be unintended consequences

a reminder that disabled people who chose to live with their partners, as all people should have the right to do, no longer qualify for any out of work benefits. their only crumb of financial independence is PIP. women trapped in abusive relationships under these circumstances have little to no hope

can’t believe someone just said that those w mh needs should only be able to do “socially useful work” for benefits - what a horrific double standard and a true notion of the ideas of eugenics that this society holds
March 18, 2025 at 1:31 PM
it would really be nice for someone to actually acknowledge that pip isn’t an out of work benefit actually :)
March 18, 2025 at 1:03 PM
well AT LEAST they’re not changing it to vouchers!!! we’re so lucky!!
March 18, 2025 at 12:50 PM
you can’t have a binary of can or can’t work!! that’s not how most disabilities work internally nor is it our experience of society and how employment/corporations work!
March 18, 2025 at 12:47 PM
the words “genuine need” are so violent and loaded in this context. you do not get to set a fake bar that does not acknowledge any of our needs
March 18, 2025 at 12:42 PM
objectively hilarious to say this is all due to tory failure only to treat disabled people just like they did - or arguably worse!
March 18, 2025 at 12:40 PM
disgusting to put the north and midlands in your mouth as a justification for taking our benefits
March 18, 2025 at 12:39 PM
we cannot “unleash talents” when there are no accessible jobs, you cut access to work, we are waiting years for surgeries and therapies and social care!!
