DAZN rescuing FIFA with a broadcasting deal on the same day Saudi Arabia are linked to investing/rescuing loss-making DAZN, coinciding with FIFA giftwrapping a World Cup to Saudi Arabia. Possibly all entirely unconnected events in which coincidentally all three parties come out as big winners.
FIFA today say there is no TV broadcaster for Club World Cup with DAZN to stream the 63-match tournament for free. Gianni Infantino's name being twice engraved on the new-look trophy wasn't enough to persuade TV broadcasters to strike a deal.
Reminder that FIFA have not announced a single broadcast deal for the Club World Cup, despite opening a tender process in July and calling an emergency meeting with TV execs in September. Real Madrid are not budgeting for it "as there is no precise information." The tournament starts in six months.
