Abortions and Carrots are probably not the words that come to mind when viewing this image. Yes, the southern emu wren is cute as, but that plant it is on is called queen annes lace. It is the original carrot. Way back this plant was used for abortions, by making a tea from its poisonous roots.

It’s still months till I can see the most fluffy of emu legs walking in deep snow. We can hope that the coming season is better than the last two 🙌🏼

A banjo ray negotiates the spider crab hors that have taken over its home over night. Tens of thousands of these crabs gather annually to moult on the full moon. They find safety in numbers while their new shells harden.

My favourite birds, gang gangs. Working with dappled light is tricky, if you expose for the highlights though it can be lovely and dramatic.

Most mornings the closest I can get to an alpine dingo is a kilometre, other times it’s almost too close. One of this year’s pups cussing out if I was camouflaged edible or camouflaged scary.
