Apropos of nothing, some of my favorite animated stories (out of the US) came out of the last 5 years. The thing they have in common is that they’re so deeply personal, I can feel the storyteller in every choice. They’re stories that made me go “who is this even made for?!” but in the best way.

This is wild. When I worked at Disney Interactive ages ago, we would get pushback from branding on the tiniest things because they were so protective of how Mickey & co. moves, looks, and behaves. Any animation I produced went through *several* iteration passes. Is that even possible with GenAI??

This is wild. When I worked at Disney Interactive ages ago, we would get pushback from branding on the tiniest things because they were so protective of how Mickey & co. moves, looks, and behaves. Any animation I produced went through *several* iteration passes. Is that even possible with GenAI??

Things have definitely shifted to Fall in our yard. I haven’t had many flowers to give away this year because of slugs and Japanese beetles but I try to put out bouquets when I can. I do have lots of lettuce starts to give away tho!

Remember when everyone discovered the lighting effects in Photoshop 5 or whatever and suddenly lens flare was in everything? And eventually it became a gag because not only was it an obvious crutch, but it also looked cheap as hell?

I went all in on tiger lilies of several varieties for the front yard but the one native to my region has such delicate flowers, it feels like a seeing a little fairy 🌱

The truly sinister part of all of these layoffs is that they’re also studios that require you to move, which not only means to a high cost center but to a place that may be far from your support network, your established friends and family. They just want your labor at the expense of your life.

Roses are almost completely in full bloom here, with the exception of a couple shrubs. I have yellow/hot colored roses out front and they’re becoming a neighborhood attraction ✨
