Shree Guru KrsnaGuruji can expound on any spiritual text. He knows all yogas. He is the repository of all spiritual knowledge and being the incarnated Supreme Divine Consciousness Itself, Shree KrsnaGuruji teaches seekers, aspirants, disciples and devotees to only follow the path of Love and Devotion. The heart is Gurudev’s domain.  The Devotional path can begin with reading original spiritual texts written by great Sages, Saints and Gurus.

How does one go from this worldly life experience to knowing God? The gateway to God is through the Spiritual Master. You have to connect with your Spiritual Master. To learn and understand the Truth you have to put forth your own effort to seek His answers with a guileless heart. Then, if you are ready your Guru will draw you closer.

At the core of Guruji’s teaching are these four words: Faith, Surrender, Love and Devotion. There is hardly a satsang in which Guruji does not tell us of the importance of these four words. These are the four words that define the Yoga of Devotion.  First is Faith. One must have faith in God, faith in Guru and faith in the spiritual texts.

There is good in this world, and there is evil in this world. We are horrified by the actions of evil and want to condemn it. But in as much as you exist as an intricate part of this creation, so does evil.   People and things have their own nature and are acting out their own karmic stories. Some people are kind and some are mean, some people are always calm, and some are always full of anger.

Know when the Divine is instructing you. Shree KrsnaGuruji teaches one to heed the first voice which speaks in the mind. You may not be attuned to hearing that sound, but it is there with you all the time. Gurudev says one should follow their first inclination with detachment and not let the mind and ego get involved in it.  

Desire is the cause of your unsteady mind. Unfulfilled desire leads one to experience perceived unhappiness and fulfilled desire leads one to experience perceived happiness.   However, you know from your own experience that fulfilled desires are temporary and you can be sure that once a desire is fulfilled, another desire will soon come along. So how is one to live their life?

The Master teaches us the three D’s to progress in spiritual life.  The first is Dispassion. To have dispassion is not the same as apathy. Dispassion means that you should always do your best and not be focused on the results. The law which seems to bind us to the material world is the Law of Karma. Many think they know about karma—that if you do a good deed, something then good will happen to you, and if you do a bad deed, then something bad will happen. But what is karma? Human beings were so much used to finding solutions so that they could eliminate doing mundane or strenuous tasks to attain their objective. The invention of a pickaxe and later the wheel. These dramatically increased their efficiency and productivity. The pickaxe helped them forage for food and the wheel eased their travels.

It is to our benefit to understand Shree Krsna Guruji’s teachings on Love and to bring some sense of sacredness into our everyday lives. His teachings are simple, profound, and transformative when applied. Few things in life are without struggle and you can be sure that the Path of Love and Devotion (Bhakti), is bound to create some disruption of the status quo life you’ve been living.

Shree KrsnaGuruji's first lesson clarifies for us that He is a Spiritualist and not a religious figure. He teaches us about the Spirit. The essence of that Spirit is within us; it is that force, that “isness” of our being and it is that which the body cannot live without.    Let us delve deeper to better understand the Spirit. The river does not ask who you are—it simply flows, nourishing all. Now see yourself as that river. Wealth, resources, love, and kindness are the waters flowing through you. Whisper softly: “I am not the owner, I am the instrument.” Hold this thought as we enter Guruji’s teaching on charity.

Shree Krishna Guruji has said that meditation takes many forms. It is not merely just sitting in some asana with eyes shut.  It can arise through the ordinary rhythm of our everyday life, and for me meditation began through the act of painting. After many long years of a professional life and family responsibilities, a time came for me when my attention could be turned elsewhere.
