Interesting to see how things are shaping up in the Mergers, Acquisitions and Transfers MAT world (in England, more accurately)…
The @tesmagazine.bsky.social MAT tracker has an easy to read round up of the latest DfE decisions on the shifting school landscape. October saw the creation of nine new MATs and further consolidation with schools in single academy trusts moving into larger trusts. www.tes.com/magazine/lea...

I am incredibly fortunate to work with a board of trustees at TEAL who always seek to do what is right & always back our ideas to make better lives for young people & staff. I am delighted that this week we have agreed to extend full paid adoption leave to colleagues who become kinship carers.

A privilege to share the stage with the remarkable @missmc.bsky.social and amazing Fiona Aubrey-Smith at the start of yesterday’s Optimus Education MATs Summit.

My keynote focused upon Five Top Tips.

Followed by two further keynotes from two remarkable speakers, Lord Blunkett and Mandy Coalter.

Anyone here starting a new role for the new school year? With a new employer or internal promotion?

What are you looking forward to the most as you anticipate your new venture?

For me, it’s the first time since August 1995 that I’m not in a role with direct responsibility for subject, school or trust performance. It’s a different feeling the night before GCSE results!

To all my Secondary HT colleagues, I wish you all the best for tomorrow. Always remember that no matter the aggregate, one swallow does not make the summer, and the next steps remain the same. Saying that I hope the marking/boundary gods are with you
