The Yellow Loosestrife Bee (Macropis europaea) is a solitary bee that nests in burrows on wetlands. It harvests oil from the Yellow Loosestrife flower and uses it to waterproof its brood cells in each of which it lays an egg. More oil is used to close the cell saving growing bees from drowning.
