Truth #1: Church hurt is real.
Truth #2: Churches can be sanctuaries of healing.
Both can be true simultaneously. What needs to happen for the second truth to impact the first one?

#writers Help me out. Where you do post your writing online? A personal blog? Substack? Typeshare? I would appreciate learning about your experience with any platform.

I made a nerdy blunder preaching today. I was listing names of Jesus and tried to say Yeshua Hamashiach, but mistakenly said “Haderach” for the last part. As in, “Kwizatz Haderach.” I immediately corrected myself. I could have let it stand to see who caught it! More likely I’d be called a heretic… 😂

Agreed. I once talked about getting ready for the “increasingly complex” moral questions of the 21st century. I was wrong. The most heated moral questions of today aren’t new or complex at all. We are called today to state what should be obvious.
It is disorienting to see that in 2024, it's necessary to remind people that vaccines are a great boon to mankind and that shooting someone in the back is morally wrong.

I’m excited to watch Skeleton Crew today! After the last few months of election drama, vitriol, and mudslinging, I’m ready to just enjoy some fun science fiction / fantasy. Star Wars, Star Trek, Dune… doesn’t matter. I’m an equal opportunity nerd.

One of the many, many things that troubles me about our current political and social climate is how viciously we denigrate and “other” those who are different than us or believe differently. Every person is made in God’s image and inherently worthy of respect. Perhaps change begins with us. #honor

Things I’m tired of explaining to people on Twitter:

• Yes, scientists know more than you do.

• No, your own “research” is not better than peer-reviewed data.

• Your vs. You’re

• No, Hitler did not have a point.

• A constitutional republic is a form of democracy.

Who'd of thought King Solomon would have had anything to say about Social Media? Prov. 11:12, "Whoever belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding remains silent."

Never underestimate people’s capacity to choose the golden calf, long to return to Egypt, beg for a king, embrace familiarity and comfort rather than progress and discomfort, and be moved by fear and anger rather than courage and love. The way of Jesus calls us to rise above this.
