36 years ago, AP’s Frieder Reimold was watching a briefing by Günter Schabowski, who said he thought new restrictions on travel to West Germany were being lifted "immediately."

Reimold sent an alert, "DDR öffnet Grenzen," and the rest is history. An incredible night.
