Men also reported a greater increase in both sexual activity and contraceptive use compared to women during the pandemic, raising an important question: who are these men having sex with? This gendered discrepancy highlights the persistence of traditional sexual norms in Turkey.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, men (27.5%) reported more sexual activity than women (16.3%).

COVID-19 put a serious strain on couples in Turkey. Our data shows a rise in arguments and intolerance, but also deeper emotional bonds. Take a look at our snapshot for a glimpse into these dynamics:

39.7% of couples reported arguing more during the pandemic, while 33.9% experienced a decrease in their level of tolerance. At the same time, 28.5% indicated an improvement in their emotional bond.
