It's worth pointing out that this is how A LOT of the press has operating for a long time. They uncritically just treat any text handed to them, by cops, press releases, CEOs, computer code and as 'news' and 'content'.

Are desktop computers just..archaic now? I regularly come across places (particularly interviews/tech etc) where it's just expected the device I'm using has a webcam and it's often impossible to just transfer it to mobile.

Make whatever case you want (this isn't a good one) against LLMs and chat bots, but these things were terrible decisions (or not decisions, just teeth gnashing by influencers) and this is actually an argument we SHOULDN'T overreact and try to blunt force ban things.
