Re: Favorite SNL Sketches — What??? No love for Eddie Murphy doing James Brown in the hot tub? Not even a mention? Yes, of course that was my pick. I guess I’m old — but still, even cone heads, land shark and cheeburger got mentions.

My friend Julie Reed asks this on Facebook:

Has there ever been a country who started rounding up fellow humans and imprisoning them - where it has turned out well? You know, made their country great?

Yesterday was a bad day and I missed you.

Today is a good day and I miss you.

I don’t know how tomorrow will be but I will miss you.

I love mixed metaphors. Heard today rewatching the season 8 reunion of Top Chef: At the end, everyone was just picking hairs.

Pearls of Wisdom
I’m listening to Tuesday’s (Feb 25, 2025) The Morning Stream. Sure context is everything so I am absolutely taking this out of context. @scottjohnson.zip said, “Nobody wants to be around me when I’m by myself.”

Love the show though.

I’m going to put my rich guy hat on and say I hope that Mexico and Canada issue equal, retaliatory tariffs and stick to them for an extended period.

I apologize to all the people it will cost money and the businesses it will hurt.

But it’s the only way for tariffs to be seen for what they are

Trump is transactional. He thinks that because he’s the president that the federal purse is his purse. He’s taking things away so he can give them back in exchange for favors to him personally.

Widow realizations: Devastation still hits. I used to resist the notion that I would feel this pain for life. “Embrace the grief” was bullshit advice and it still is. But I’ve gotten used to Sad Girl. I don’t want to see her go. Grief is puzzling and it still sucks. But now I have better tools.

Holidays are hard. I miss my late husband every damn day. I am also looking forward to spending time with family. Both things are true but one overwhelms the other. Shoutout to sister widows and fellow widowers.
