We were told to wait for our friends by this sign at major forks in the trail. Where are you friends of the #CDT?
When people first hike the CDT, they're often surprised by the diversity of the trail. As the environment changes, we adapt also.

How do you adapt your Leave No Trace practices as you move between the CDT’s different landscapes, like desert and high-alpine?

Old Faithful isn’t the tallest or most powerful geyser on the Divide, but it’s the most reliable. ⏱️

It’s a vital bridge between the rugged #CDT and the public, inspiring stewardship right where the trail meets the boardwalk.

Did you see an eruption on your hike? 🌋

On the CDT, you learn quickly that the destination exists even when you cannot see it through the fog. Movement is progress, even when the horizon is hidden. If you are feeling a bit lost this Monday, just focus on the next step. The clouds always break eventually.

📍 PLACES OF THE DIVIDE: South Pass City, WY

In 1869, this gold rush boomtown became the birthplace of women’s suffrage. Wyoming passed the first law in the world granting women the right to vote right here, later becoming the "Equality State." 🗳️

A historic milestone on the #CDT. #BlueSky 🥾

3,100 miles is roughly 6 million individual steps. Whether you’re thru-hiking the Divide or just starting your week, success is found in the consistency of showing up.

Whatever your "mile one" is today—keep moving. The Divide is with you. 🏔️

We did it! 🎉Thanks to our amazing community, our end-of-year campaign raised over $198,000 for the CDT!

This incredible support lets us hit the ground running in 2026 to complete & protect the trail. This sunset view from Berthoud Pass is a beautiful reminder of what we're working for. Thank you! 💚

The "Water Tower" is filling up. 🏔️💧

January snowpack along the Continental Divide acts as a critical natural storage system. By slowly releasing water through late summer, it sustains the headwaters of 5 major rivers.

Protecting the #CDT landscape ensures these headwaters remain resilient.

Did you know this bird planted the forest you hiked through? 🌲🐦

The Clark’s Nutcracker hides up to 30,000 seeds a year along the Continental Divide to survive the winter. Those they forget grow into Whitebark Pine forests.

They are the eco-engineers of the CDT landscape. Happy #NationalBirdDay!
