Arlo Guthrie’s antiwar staple “Alice’s Restaurant” was inspired by a Thanksgiving Day visit to her diner in western Massachusetts.

The usual suspects are out there yelling "There are 23 million government workers! Fire most of them!" No awareness that most work for local governments, and most of *them* are schoolteachers. Federal employment hasn't grown since the 1950s

Remember two months ago when stern fact checks were being issued to Kamala from the media for linking Donold to Project 2025? God remembers.

Here's my recommendation for the day.

I can't with my usual political podcasts. I'm trying, I really am, but they're just making me sad.

So, ive been listening to this. Its fascinating. It's smart. And it's bringing me joy.

Pick a topic and listen.

I started warning about events in Wuhan in early Jan 2020 and have been tracking H5N1 developments. While there’s still no confirmed human-to-human transmission, the virologists I follow have become noticeably more concerned about the virus’s evolution very recently.

The first hint I had that something was amiss in late December, 2019, was a post from @helenbranswell.bsky.social about a pneumonia of unknown etiology in Wuhan, China.

Here's Helen speaking about three recent, abnormal H5N1 cases. It's not panic time yet, but it's worth paying attention.

The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

The rest of media is an echo chamber for the right. The left isn’t allowed one place to exist?!?
Opinion - The problem with Bluesky: It won’t broaden our horizons: In the wake of Donald Trump’s election win, the social-media platform has enjoyed a surge of new users looking for an alternative to Elon Musk’s X. But will it be useful, if it just creates an echo chamber for the left?
