Sadly the Painted Bunting in Cape Jourimain hasn't been seen for a couple of weeks, likely not surviving the cold. This bird won the hearts of everyone who saw it (one even got a tattoo). Thank you to those who tried so hard to help it through the winter. Fly into the great beyond little one.

This Downy Woodpecker is easily confused with a Hairy Woodpecker. The Downy is a bit smaller with a shorter beak and black dots on its white outer tail feathers.

The male Pine Grosbeak is a crimson red compared with the rusty orange of the female. The colour also covers a larger area of the body. It's quite gorgeous how the red plays off the black of the beak, eyes, wings and tail.

Invited over to a friend's to see a not-so-common visitor to #NewBrunswick, a Carolina #Wren.
A wren is lost in a maze of branches. The Carolina wren is recognizable by its bold white eyebrow and classic long wren tail often pointing straight up in the air. It also has a lighter orange coloured belly contrasting with its reddish brown top.

A gorgeous woodpecker perched on a branch. The Red-bellied is named after the red area just showing over the branch extending over the belly and chest as a red blush. Oddly named as it's most notable red feature is its cap extending from beak to the back of the neck on this male.

Hiding amongst some dark branches a small bird perches. The rather monotone bird has a big splash of red on its forehead and a blush of red on its chest. The only other colour comes from the yellow on the beak.

Came across a young Piebald Deer bugging an adult who had enough. I normally think a piebald isn't well camouflaged but guess again.

A young deer starts to run as an adult turns to chase it. The piebold has mottled fur. In this case it has a fairly normal looking brown head and neck but then quickly turns to a mostly white critter with varying dark patches of browns and greys.
