Christian Climate Action take prayerful, non-violent direct action to push for justice in this climate emergency
We are back with our review of 2025.
Throughout the spring we visited cathedrals across the country, holding banners asking them to switch to a bank that doesn’t fund climate chaos. In April we took our banners to St Paul’s Cathedral on a day when clergy from across the diocese were gathered.

Talking Rosebank, the Climate Choir and CCA’s Three Kings returned Norway’s gifts of 250 tonnes of carbon dioxide, dead fish and hurricane damage to their Embassy. Their Government is the largest shareholder in Rosebank’s operator Equinor. You can just write to your MP to ask them to #StopRosebank

Looking back at March, on Ash Wednesday we held a No Faith In Fossil Fuels service at St John’s, Waterloo followed by a 24 hour vigil outside the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero. We prayed for the government not to give permission for the development of the North Sea Rosebank oilfield.

February action in our series looking back at 2025: Our vigil praying for Hiscox to rule out insuring fossil fuel projects, because without insurance these projects would not go ahead. Insurance companies are part of a network of enablers helping oil and gas companies to inflict climate devastation

Looking back on 2025 over the next few weeks with one action from each month

January - an overnight pilgrimage from a prison to join 1000 people who sat silently outside Royal Courts of Justice to protest extremely harsh sentences for climate protesters who break the law as a matter of conscience

Here is one thing you can you do about the climate crisis - write to your MP to ask them to watch the expert briefings and let you know what action they plan to take. Each talk can be found using the QR code or here:

Climate change drives hunger, war and migration. Our faith calls us to speak out for migrant and climate justice - alongside young adult Christians depicting the Bible scene where Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus fled to Egypt from King Herod's persecution, recreated in a contemporary refugee setting.

CCA folk joined a Xmas action at the offices of Grayling, a PR firm who help greenwash Drax, to remind them that they are fuelling the climate crisis. Old growth forest trees from US, Canada and South America are burnt at Drax as ‘sustainable’ fuel.

From the damage caused by Storm Bram battering the UK to the death toll from the recent flooding in Indonesia, suffering and destruction caused by extreme rainfall is more common and more intense because of human caused climate breakdown.

Turn on the sound.
Just in case you missed it a few days ago or you just want to warm your heart this Sunday evening, we are sharing this little gem.
WATCH: @climatechoirs.bsky.social flashmob at lighting of Norwegian Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square

Norway's gift to the UK this year comes with strings attached - they are pressuring the UK to sign off on the mega-polluting Rosebank oil field.

The Government is right now deciding whether to approve Rosebank. Listen to find out more

It’s not too later to ask your MP to let the government know how much people want them to make the right decision to stop #rosebank for good

There is a lack of public access to accurate, science-based information on the impacts on us of the climate crisis. Please sign the letter asking the Government and public service broadcasters to hold an urgent televised national emergency briefing for the public.

Some good news for all of us that have been involved in the fight to stop North Sea oil and gas and for a just transition away from fossil fuels. We will need to fight on but today we can allow ourselves a moment to reflect on this outcome of all our efforts
BREAKING 🚨: The government has just announced that they are ending new oil and gas exploration in the UK and have started a plan for workers and communities to transition away from fossil fuels.

We signed a faith statement urging Chancellor Rachel Reeves to raise and reform taxes on wealth in Wednesday’s Budget because action is needed to tackle the climate crisis and to reduce poverty and inequality. Read it at justmoney.org.uk/wp-content/u...

#COP30 closed without a plan to end our use of fossil fuels, without giving those who suffer the consequences the funds to manage this. As Advent approaches we lament our corporate failure to act on the cry of the poor and of the Earth and find time and space to pray for love and justice to prevail.

We had a powerful ecoliberation theology seminar with brilliant speakers looking at intersections of climate and racial justice and the consequences of the choices we make.

#COP30 Only two days left and it’s looking like another wasted opportunity to take meaningful action to do what is needed. Pray for a softening of the hearts of our leaders, for wisdom and justice.
