I'm noting that when using AI dev agents for coding (claude code), I'm doubly encouraged to keep the code clean and the README/docs/comments up to date. "Broken windows" / tech debt just confuse the agents. Better to keep everything *always* accurate and working. #ai #devagents #coding

My go-to dev env stack these days:

- justfiles (for consistent project commands)
- jetify devbox (for consistent dev environments. Love this)
- claude code (increasingly hard to live without)
- emacs (works perfectly with dev agents)

Oh and pulumi ESC for secrets.

Video Gaming Law of Infinite Simulation

In keeping with Jevons Paradox, video games expand to consume all available computation - CPU, GPU, ML - up to and beyond real-time simulation of the physical universe.

In short: If we can calculate it, games will play it.

I was aware of D&D in my youth (watched the 80s cartoon), but, to speak to how much of a geek I was in elementary school, I thought BASIC D&D meant I'd get some BASIC source code for a game I could program on my Timex Sinclair 1000. I was disappointed when I found out what Basic D&D actually was!
Admission: My first TTRPG? Shadowrun 1st edition. That's right. What a way to start! I was 11 or 12 years old, my friend got a copy of Shadowrun and we... tried to figure it out. A few years later, I was playing 2nd edition AD&D, Robotech, and RIFTS, but that first game was quite the learning curve.

Claude Code is changing my life, but perhaps even more importantly, claude code + emacs is changing my life. Got this package working today:

GitHub - yuya373/claude-code-emacs: This package provides seamless integration with Claude Code, allowing you to run AI-powered coding sessions directly in your Emacs environment.

In a world of bad news, one space brings me happiness: the Cambrian explosion of creativity in a the vibrant TTRPG community. Back around 2010, I feared my beloved hobby would whither. Now? So many amazing games. From 5E/Critical Role to OSR to PtbA/Forged to Itch.io indies. Gives me hope.

When designing video games and, especially when designing AI-native games, I tend to look to tabletop RPGs for inspiration.

Why is search in Claude and ChatGPT so bad? At this point I have a few hundred different chats and finding which one I discussed this or that in is strangely _bad_. Has anyone else seen this?

Curious: will ai coding assistants actually change the "reality" curve of automation? Even if I can (and do) write helpful scripts faster and more often than before, is the time saved eaten by managing prompts and agents? Am I just managing ai coding interns now?

Just finished the first five (of ten) books of Amber. I really enjoyed the beginning, but sort of tired of it at the end. So I’m off to some non-fiction next. #currentlyreading

If coding creates tech debt, does #vibecoding create knowledge debt?

- Tech debt: drag on change.
- Knowledge debt: drag on comprehension.

Credit to J&T ML lead, Yudi, recognizing #genai code leads to loss of mental models. Can be overcome, but engineering discipline is still a must.

MCP is going to fuel the next wave of AI hype, but this time, I think we’ll see more significant, practical applications. This tech is hitting the tipping point.
I am coming around to why MCP is so impressive.

For one of my side projects, I used to have to log onto my database admin (PgAdmin) to query stuff.

I connected an MCP server to Postgres and can "talk" with my database (and data!)

An uplevel in my productivity + ease of work.
