First Mineral Monday of the new year!! I love the natural artistry of this scolecite (a mineral in the zeolite group). The careful balance of the three crystal clusters is gorgeous!! #MineralMonday #GeoscienceBluesky ⚒️🧪

Psst... Hey...
It's the first #MineralMonday of 2026! Today I have a specimen of Staurolite showing off it's classic twinning!

I understand your struggle. I'd would love to get to know you better honestly!

Very cool! Where is yours from if you don't mind me asking?

I do not believe so

It is in a chert nodule. Sometimes they have a bit of calcite in the fractures as well.

Got a spicy specimen this #MineralMonday ! The tabular green crystal is Zeunerite which is altering to Metazeunerite. Zeunerite contains copper, uranium, and arsenic so it is both radioactive and toxic!

You can find a PDF copy from the Arkansas Geological Survey.

I suspect this to be serpentinite from its color and scaly appearance. Doing some background research on the area, bodies of soapstone-serpentintite have been confirmed. For much more details about the structures, I suggest "Guidebook to Paleozoic Rocks in the Eastern Ouachita Mountains Arkansas."

I was able to get some holiday polishing done. This is Teepee Canyon Agate from South Dakota!

Looks like some igneous rock with large k-feldspar phenocrysts. Possibly a granite? Still a really cool find!

I had a tough time deciding on what specimen to choose for today from the Christmas Mine, so as an extra little treat have a tiny Dioptase.

Kinoite are the blue crystals and the Apophyllite crystals are clear.
December 22, 2025 at 7:00 PM
This festive #MineralMonday is brought to you by Kinoite and Apophyllite. This sample is from the Christmas Mine in Gila Co., Arizona. A fitting specimen for the holiday season!

This #MineralMonday we got one of my personal favorite minerals Boleite! It's a fun little halide with lead, silver, and copper and forms nice deep blue cubes.

Happy #MineralMonday y'all! Today I got a piece of Wavellite from Arkansas. It is sadly not lime flavored...
December 8, 2025 at 9:55 PM
I personally didn't find this piece, but I would love to go digging for some in the future. This piece was found in 1992.
