I moved to a northern state that can handle winter weather after 2021's freeze, but was in San Antonio without water for almost a week (and barely any power) in February 2021, and I still have bad anxiety about winter storms (which one is forecast for tomorrow evening through Sunday where I live)😳😱🥶
texas is so fucked up from the 2021 freeze that heb has been insane for 48hrs and the storm won't hit till tomorrow night

Our current situation is our current situation. We don't have to love it. We can acknowledge exactly how much it sucks & does not represent what we want-- while at the same time realistically defining (maybe even guessing at, at first) the baby steps possible today to change it.

My spelling alternates depending on how frequently I message w/my friends in the UK/Australia. If it's been a while "realise/colour" (and the like) revert back to "realize/color."But I always spell "favourite/behaviour" like that, those don't change. I was also influenced by living overseas as a kid
As I often mention about my Australian English adaptation work, it's usually more about identity-related emotions than practicality. I'm sure most Canadians won't be losing sleep over "analyse" but those who will are louder.

Look for music. Find a song I like in the language. Translate it on my own in a notebook while looking for patterns in the language. Then focus on how to pronounce each word in the song. Then I move on to textbooks.
