🚨 URGENT: A lost sheep wandered onto Catskill Animal Sanctuary. After no owner came forward, she’s now an official CAS resident, but she’s still very scared and in need of an emergency shear and medical care.

We’re looking for #volunteers!

Join us as a Volunteer Tours Greeter at Catskill Animal Sanctuary and help welcome guests, check in tours, and support our visitor programs. Just 2–4 weekend days a month through November.

It’s a great way to give back and hang with rescued animals. 🐖🐴

This morning, we caught two of our beloved horses, Dharma and MJ, standing calmly while a few pigeons perch on their backs. It’s a small but profound example of the gentleness that lives within the heart of all animals when they are given the chance to simply be.

This is the spirit of sanctuary. 🐴🕊️

RESCUE ANNOUNCEMENT! 🚨‼️

Meet Jess & Schmidt — two white broad-breasted turkeys who, at last, have found their forever home here at CAS.

These two recently arrived to us from another rescue that was at capacity. Jess is fearless, sassy and curious, while Schmidt is quiet, thoughtful and gentle.

Just had a great afternoon at @casanctuary.org hanging out with some beautiful animals. Kids had a blast and staff were so kind and professional. Anyone taking a trip near the Catskills should check them out!

In 2001, Kathy Stevens walked away from a stable career and a steady paycheck to follow a vision: to create a haven for farmed animals, a place where their lives would be valued, and their stories would change hearts.

“Wow, this cow acts just like my dog!”

This was an exclamation made by one of our recent visitors to our Sanctuary while on a tour. While it can be surprising to discover just how incredible farmed animals are, we know this to be true: cows are so much more than our world gives them credit for.

At CAS, we exist to champion compassion for ALL beings who experience marginalization, discrimination, or violence simply for being who they are. As we celebrate Pride Month, let’s talk about why advocacy for farmed animals is deeply connected to the advocacy for LGBTQ+ communities:

Just recently, we granted underfoot (free-roaming) privileges to Sven (right) and his best friend, Vinny (left).

Sven and Vinny were rescued in October 2015 from a backyard slaughter operation. They have been really enjoying getting to meet guests with their new free-roaming privileges!
