It's my first time combining yarns for a project, and I am over the moon for how these mittens are turning out. This colour is just ❤️‍🔥.

After dealing with a sock spree over the holidays, I'm now going through mitten mania! #knitting

This has been the most Carly-coded Christmas ever, and it's been so lovely. With Mum and Dad sick, my cousin, aunt and I have been all about binging whodunnit movies, knitting, cooking, and playing board games from the 70s together. Total bliss.

Vancouver is feeling like another world compared to my tiny, flat corner of Ontario.

Well, this Make Some Noise episode turned out to be prescient.

I just received the physical book for a Kickstarter that I backed ages ago, and it's gorgeous (and well worth the wait). I love the combination of draconic and floral elements. 😍

Got brutally dragged by my dad this weekend for bringing my knitting with me to a festival but the joke was on him: I was the only one in the family enjoying great chats with nerdy strangers and walking away with a handful of new crafting buddies. 😅🧶

I have to say that I was really not anticipating that, four episodes in, Charmed would be treating me to a very swoon-worthy 26-year-old John Cho.

(Also cool to see that 1998 fashion coming back around now 😅)

And I thought that today couldn't get any lovelier. ❤️

I'm doing my best to not succumb to Second Sock Syndrome, but the pink yarn is so pretty. 😭

I love that one of my local art galleries has a studio where they host fun, creative events. Even though she looks like she came straight from a fever dream, I love my resulting bird sentry.

A favourite Sunday activity is curling up with my knitting needles, my sweet girl, and a horror movie (we're rewatching Heretic tonight).

New therapist: Now, what if you directed that love and care that you show for others at yourself?

Me, having just told her that I show care for people by surprising them with gifts:

In a tragic turn of events, the Jurassic Park/Lost World audiobooks have made it clear that Dr. Ian Malcolm is only sexy and roguishly charming when played by Jeff Goldblum and limited by a two-hour running time. Book Malcolm has enough soliloquies that even Hamlet would find it to be a *bit* much.

My lovely dept, The School of English at Trinity College Dublin, is hiring! We are looking for a postcolonial scholar who can also teach American literature. We’re a lovely bunch, I promise. Please spread the word!

I mistook the pack of drinks that I saw at my regular grocery store for the one I tried from the fancy store and just discovered that I've been pounding back an energy drink with breakfast every day this week instead of tea. ☠️☠️☠️

This funding is so important for early childhood programs in Nunavut, and it will be a huge step backward—away from reconciliation—if it isn't extended.
written to Minister Hajdu on the Inuit Child First Initiative, demanding it be extended. We must ensure these vital supports continue.

With an NDP government - no child will be left behind.

Very happy to see that David Geherin was selected for this year's Dove Award! When I was working on my dissertation, his Scene of the Crime: The Importance of Place in Crime and Mystery Fiction was a favourite that helped to inform my thinking about spatiality.

My small town (<1000 ppl) used to have a calendar with everyone's birthdays and I grew up laughing at the coincidence of there being a completely unrelated Carl Atkinson whose birthday was four days before mine.

Now it turns out that my brother is dating his granddaughter...who shares my birthday.

My home riding is bleak as always, but it's heartening to see Catherine McKenney absolutely destroying the competition in Ottawa Centre.

While they're wintering somewhere warm, my parents texted to see if I could send condolences and set up a flower delivery for an acquaintance that recently passed.

It now occurs to me that *I* am my family's administrative assistant. Same amount of access to blackmail material, slightly less pay.

I'm in the middle of binging Miracle Workers, and it is a GEM! I really feel like the main characters all shine from season to season because of the character and setting changes (though Steve Buscemi should be cast as a dad more often; his character in the second season is the sweetest). Must watch

As someone who listens to French music while being unable to replicate any kind of French accent, I always find it both painful and funny that I have to resort to utterly bastardizing song titles in order to get my Google Home to play anything. Will never recover from asking for A Cause Day Gar Cons

I really hate that I keep deliberately walking into the bear trap that is answering overtly subjective, no stakes questions on Reddit and getting absolutely railed no matter what my answer is.
