The 2025 Global Tipping Points Report is out today: global-tipping-points.org. Bringing together 160 experts from 23 countries, it provides the latest update on where we stand relative to Earth’s critical climate and ecological thresholds, and on opportunities for transformative mitigation.
Global Tipping Points | understanding risks & their potential impact
Harmful tipping points in the natural world threaten humanity by disrupting life support systems and societal stability.

New modelling study on how food trade might evolve after global catastrophes like nuclear war or global catastrophic infrastructure loss: esd.copernicus.org/articles/16/...
Food trade disruption after global catastrophes
Abstract. The global food trade system is resilient to minor disruptions but vulnerable to major ones. Major shocks can arise from global catastrophic risks, such as abrupt sunlight reduction scenario...

Excited to have contributed to the first systematic bibliometric review of research on global catastrophic and existential risk: esd.copernicus.org/articles/16/.... We analyse 3,437 documents, identify and describe 10 emergent research clusters, and show how these clusters have developed over time.
The state of global catastrophic risk research: a bibliometric review
Abstract. The global catastrophic risk (GCR) and existential risk (ER) literature focuses on analyzing and preventing potential major global catastrophes including a human extinction event. Over the p...

In research on global risk, work on how catastrophes occur and spread in complex interconnected systems (systemic risk, cascading risk, polycrisis) has rarely been connected with work on global catastrophic risk (worst-case outcomes).
