Today is Jordan River Anderson's birthday. Jordan's legacy lives in all of us who stand up for First Nations children, and today we are celebrating Jordan's birthday by sharing a scrapbook from Bear Witness Day celebrations held earlier this year.

First Nation communities across the country are losing crucial programs because of changes to the Jordan's Principle application process made last February, while families battle in court to reinstate services.

First Nations are reporting the loss of funding for children’s programs after changes to Jordan’s Principle rules.

That includes Onigaming First Nation, which has been under a state of emergency since 2024 as deaths remain alarmingly high.

First Nations across Canada are losing Jordan's Principle programs
Funding for Jordan's Principle services fell from $1.72 billion in 2023-24 to $1.64 billion in 2024-25. Meanwhile denials doubled.
