4 years ago we launched Fairer Start Local – an innovation partnership with local authorities to test & scale new ideas for supporting early childhood development.

We’ve identified six key lessons about how to do innovation in the early years: Adopt a test and learn approach. Effective innovation needs dedicated capacity. Co-design with families and frontline staff. There’s no shortage of early years data – joining it up is the challenge. Use mission-driven innovation to drive collaboration. Scale starts with a solution that works in place.
