Only a few pages into the last of the Season novellas of @benaaronovitch.bsky.social 's Rivers of London, and I keep chuckling at the beautiful nods to Wodehouse.

Gorse. It can grow and thrive on ground too poor for many other plants. It takes over spaces on sand close to the sea. It carries long spikes all over that hide delicate yellow flowers. It is an adaptable survivor.
