Some Lynchs films inspired Silent Hill 2. When we were building the outline of the story, there was an idea that 2 or 3 guys were the main protagonists like Lost Highway's story. Also, as you know, Blue Velvet inspired the cut scene "Pyramid Head abusing 2 Mannequins".

It's really difficult to exemplify how much David Lynch inspired aspects of the games, there's just so much of him in almost every entry. Names, plot points, scenery...
He might not be the sole or largest influence, but he left a clear mark in the games we love.

A suitcase full of shoes in a messy motel room in Silent Hill Origins, referencing Episode 4 of Twin Peaks. In it, the protagonists ambush a suspicious one-armed shoe salesman in a motel room. Still from Lost Highway (1997), showing a picture of the film's antagonists next to two identical, but distinctly dressed and dyed, women. This was one of the foundations for Mary and Maria's story.
