Being flesh-and-blood creatures, we tend to dwell too much on “the things seen,” our physical concerns, which are only temporary. ( 2 Corinthians 4:18.) Satan often plays on that tendency and pushes us toward becoming fleshly-minded people.
Jehovah knows that it is a protection for us humans to focus our minds on spiritual realities​—“the things unseen,” as the apostle Paul called them. Why? Being flesh-and-blood creatures, we tend to dwell too much on “the things seen,” our physical concerns, which are only temporary. ( 2 Corinthians 4:18.) Satan often plays on that tendency and pushes us toward becoming fleshly-minded people. To help us resist that pressure, Jehovah lovingly provides us with such passages as this one in Ezekiel’s prophecy, giving us thrilling reminders of the awesome majesty of Jehovah’s celestial family!

Young sisters, why not identify a few mature Christian women you know whose example you can imitate? Note their appealing qualities; then consider how you can manifest them. An important aspect of Christian maturity is humility. If a woman is humble, she will enjoy a good relationship with Jehovah and with others. For example, a woman who loves Jehovah humbly chooses to support the principle of headship that her heavenly Father established. (1 Cor. 11:3) That principle has specific applications in the congregation and in the family arrangement.

If they do so, they can be confident that God will reward them. “Let us not give up.” This phrase can be rendered “let us not grow weary.” The original-language term may also convey the idea of not getting discouraged or losing enthusiasm. By including himself in these words, the apostle Paul admitted that he too faced times when he had to fight discouragement.—Romans 7:21-24. “What is fine,” or good, encompasses all the things a Christian should do in service to God. This includes works that a person does for the well-being of fellow believers and others.—Galatians 6:10. “In due time we will reap if we do not tire out.” Paul reminds his readers that it may take time before they see the benefits of doing good, just as it takes time for a farmer’s crop to grow. By referring to reaping, Paul links this verse with the fundamental truth stated in verse 7: “Whatever a person is sowing, this he will also reap.” In other words, when a Christian does what is good in God’s eyes, he will reap a large reward, including everlasting life.—Romans 2:6, 7; Galatians 6:8.

When Josiah was about 39 years old, he made a mistake that cost him his life. He trusted in himself instead of asking Jehovah for guidance. (2 Chron. 35:20-25) There is a lesson here. No matter how old we are or how long we have been studying the Bible, we must keep searching for Jehovah. The occupants of the land could be expected to offer resistance. But Jehovah had marched with his people for decades, so there was no need to fear. The Israelites had every reason to know Jehovah as a God who could be trusted! Christians today have been marching through the wilderness of the present wicked world on their way to God’s new world. Some of them have been following this course for longer than 40 years. Now they are standing on the border of God’s new world. Yet, enemies still stand in the way, intent upon hindering any from entering what will become like a Promised Land, more glorious than the ancient one that flowed with milk and honey. So for Christians today, how appropriate are Moses’ words, as repeated by Paul: “I will by no means leave you nor by any means forsake you”! All who remain strong and courageous, full of faith, putting confidence in Jehovah, are sure of a reward.

We could picture it this way: We grasp our love with both hands, as if it were an extendable piece of fabric, and stretch it out more and more until it covers, not one, not two, but “a multitude of sins.” To cover is a descriptive way of saying to forgive. Just as a piece of fabric can cover a stain, love can cover the weaknesses and imperfections of others. Our love for others should be strong enough that we can forgive the imperfections of our fellow believers​—even if that requires considerable effort at times. (Col. 3:13) When we succeed in forgiving others, we show that our love is strong and that we want to please Jehovah.
