I just finished (and loved) The Librarianist by Patrick Dewitt, and this was one of my favorite lines. Perfect for a New Year's resolution, I think.

I was lucky enough to see Hokusai's The Great Wave in person last weekend. Here are a few things I learned: It is much smaller than I expected (25x37 cm), but also far more beautiful. Hokusai was a pseudonym, one of many. He taught his students, among other things, how to draw an "energetic" person.

I don't often read short stories (worried I'll form attachments that end too soon), but I'm so glad I read this one. Slow-moving but totally tension-filled and haunting.

The wonderful people at the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library (opening 2026!) gave me this beauty last year. It’s a little fragile, so I’m trying to protect it from suffering the same fate as our dog-tortured reindeer and one-legged gingerbread men.
