The first televised Grey Cup was the 1952 game held in Toronto. It was broadcast on Toronto's CBC affiliate station CBLT.

The broadcast even included a short pre-game show hosted by Annis Stukus. A reader sent us this pic of the title card from the "Football with Stukus" pre-game feature.

It's Grey Cup Week. Let's take a look back at the 1920 Grey Cup played between the University of Toronto and the Toronto Argonauts. It was the first Grey Cup played after a five year hiatus.

100 Yard Fields in Early Canadian Football

In 2027, the field will shrink from 110 yards in length to 100 yards between the goal lines.

But upon further review, it appears that 100-yard football fields are not new to Canadian football.

The Death of Earl Grey

As Governor General, Earl Grey lent his support to several Canadian arts and sports initiatives. In 1909, he donated a trophy to be awarded for the Amateur Rugby Football Championship of Canada. Soon, the trophy would become known as the Grey Cup.

Next up, it's Calgary versus Edmonton in the Battle of Alberta. For the 1992 Labour Day Classic between these two teams, a state-of-the-art replay screen was brought into McMahon Stadium. It cost Stampeders owner Larry Ryckman $50,000 for the video board.

It's Labour Day Weekend in the CFL. 35 years ago, the Saskatchewan Roughriders set an attendance record at Taylor Field. On Sunday, September 2, 1990, they beat Winnipeg 55-11 in front of 31,121 fans.
