In LAC, financial access has been a challenge, but the pandemic accelerated bancarization. Account ownership surged from 52% in 2014 to 74% in 2021. While most adults now have accounts, growth was uneven; in OECD-level countries, it rose from 94% to 97%. Read the new #Graph4Thought: go.undp.org/3Y6

The latest poverty projections for Latin America and the Caribbean estimate a poverty rate of 25%. A closer look reveals that, while rural poverty remains higher in absolute terms, urban poverty is growing faster, especially during periods of shock.
