Archaeology can often struggle to attract younger audiences and engaging local communities. New participatory research: 'Fen to Fire – Building a Living Portrait of a Bronze Age Homestead' addressed these challenges.

Interesting to find some nature printed butterflies @theul.bsky.social yesterday (‘lepidochromes’). The butterflies were pressed on prepared paper, which was folded, allowing the scales to transfer to create mirror images of both sides of the insects’ wings. 1/2 #enthist @camglamresearch.bsky.social

This is such a fabulous program. I feel saddened to think how many ancient buildings and how many artifacts, libraries, and archives have been destroyed by wars in Syria, Yemen, and Palestine. These are rich cultures that have endured through milennia.

Yesterday I was @cuherb.bsky.social checking out its collection of Sussex #bryophytes, most of which were collected by William Nicholson (1866-1945), though there are also some from Thomas Laflin (1914-1972), and even William Mitten (1819-1906)
