Changing from academia to industry is often referred as transitioning. But how does this transition look like? From a physics point of view, I'd say it' a second order phase transition. 🧪👩🏻‍🔬 ⚛️ 🧵#AcademicSky

Even people who know that Substack is bad news still think of it as their only alternative. It’s not.

@anildash.com lists some and makes a great point: call it your work. Your writing.

Thank you for clarifying my thoughts even to myself, now I know how to counter argument to substack use
It’s weird to me that people keep starting new Substacks and still don’t know that Substack is extremely bad news

Please get off Substack 😭

There is much less fuss around this news than around any RFK related one (and it makes sense, in a way). Still, I find it very frightening that Italy has appointed two renowned no-vax supporters in its vaccine experts committee, an organism which collaborates with the WHO. 🧪🧵

Discussions shape us.
But papers do it too.

For me, one that shaped the way I think was:
🧠 Introduction to topological superconductivity and Majorana fermions by Leijnse & Flensberg.

I read it during my master’s thesis—10 years ago!—and it just clicked. 🧵🧪⚛️

One thing we don’t talk about enough is how collaboration in academia is highly affected by personal priorities: maybe you’re making time to finish up something so your colleagues can take over and do their part, but when they do they are actually busy with something else #AcademicSky
