“Adam, Mickey, can you hear me?” April asked through the earpiece. “Loud and clear, April.” Mickey replied as they drove off. “You know where you’re going, Adam?” Adam confirmed. He’d checked the map before leaving. “The place is almost completely out in the open.” April told them. “It will be hard for you to sneak in. There’s a sewer path underneath it, but more than likely…” “It’ll be protected.” Mickey finished for her. “Man, I wish we had Leo for this. None of us are good with plans. Uh, no offense.” No, Mickey was right. He was terrible at those. “So what do you intend on doing once there?” April asked. “Me and Adam actually talked about this during our meal.” Mickey replied. “The others have a collar, but if we can break it, then they would only be controlled for another fifteen minutes. So, I don’t know how we’re gonna get to them, but once we do, we break the collars and wait for the timer to run out. At least, that’s the plan…” “If the Foot was also collecting samples, then maybe you should also destroy them.” April pointed out. “…Right.” Mickey acknowledged. “Like we aren’t already way in over our heads as it is…”

Paolo stood up before running like toddlers always did to the lab. He impatiently waited for Mikey to open the large and metallic door before waddling over to Don. Don was kneeling in front of something on the floor, facing away from them. Paolo didn’t think twice before slapping his butt to get his attention. “Ah!” Don jumped up. He quickly turned around, a hand on his heart. “Shell, you scared me.” Paolo froze unsurely… Mikey snickering behind him made Don sigh, and he forced himself to relax when he got a smile for him. “How about next time to poke my arm instead, alright?” Don suggested. Paolo nodded. “Now what can I do for a couple of cheerful turtles today?” “Don’t look at me, he’s the one that wanted to show you something.” Mikey told him. “Oh? And what would that be?” Don wondered. Oh yes, oh yes! Paolo quickly made the sign for the letter D before pointing at him. D for Don! D! “Is that a D?” Don understood. “Incredible, now you know my name! What about the others, huh?” Paolo nodded. He made an R, and then an L, and then even an M! Oh shell oh shell oh shell… This was bad. He had to get out of there. Even as he was running, he could feel them right behind him. They were so close, he could almost feel their breaths. He couldn’t look behind himself. He was too wounded, and they were too strong. His own family would shred him to pieces. Leo had already almost beheaded him, Raph’s sai left a gap on his shoulder he was really trying to ignore, and Don’s bō might be cut in half now, but that didn’t stop him from almost giving him a concussion and a torn stomach. He kept going. Even after he stopped hearing them, he didn’t want to risk it. He didn’t know what to do. Leo was the planner, Raph was the charger, and even Don was the fixer. He was just… the follower. The helper. His strength was to know a little bit of everything, but he was in no way an expert in anything. He was glad that at least Mickey wasn’t following him, because he’d have reached him almost inst- Mickey!

He could now see much more of the lobby inside. Karai was standing, a few… elites, if he recalled the name, next to her, and her scientist behind her. He was holding something in his hand, and the orange tint to it reminded him enough of the different chemicals they’d fought to get to understand it was bad. His black canister was laying on the floor next to the scientist, and he was aiming his item towards the rest of the room, covered in a suit from head to toe. The rest of the room in question consisted of a good few random people he didn’t know the affiliation of, some Foot soldiers, a few purple dragons, and of course, the turtles. Or at least, three of them. He didn’t have time to think about what that thing the scientist was holding was, nor to where Mickey was located, or even who the random people around were. He picked up one of his arrows, an orange one, and aligned it with the gizmo. He took a breath, holding it to stop his muscles from shaking. His arm and wrist were screaming at him, and he had to tense them to avoid any twitch. He could not miss this. He could not. They had no idea of his presence, but they would after this. He only had one shot.

“Yeah, we lost them.” Mickey admitted with a sigh. Don had to agree, the Foot had completely vanished. Even with his heat sensor, he couldn’t locate a single trace of them. “If we had Adam, we could maybe track them, but…” “We have to believe that they can take care of themselves.” Leo told him as if reading his mind. “For now, let’s help Casey. The Foot will have to meet with the purple dragons at some point to get their part of the materials, and this would be the most likely place, since Adam didn’t mention any rendez-vous point.” “Aw man, more running?” Mickey complained. “Oh stop whining. You’re the least wounded of us all.” Don scolded. “I am however worried about your leg…” He added, pointing at Leo’s very much still bleeding cut on his calf. Or more like through his calf. He was lucky he could still walk on it… “No time for that.” Leo replied, completely ignoring the risks of exacerbating the injury. “We can worry about it later. Let’s go.” He left before anyone could bring any more complaints. Don only glanced at Mickey before following him. The path to the purple dragons’ hotel was luckily quite short, but the rooftops jumping was the easiest job by far.

Leo nodded. While Raph held his little legs and Mikey took care of his upper body, Leo pulled out the bath basin. He filled it halfway with some soapy water, and the others lifted Paolo up above it. And then, they placed him in it. To say that Paolo was scared was an understatement. He was all but thrashing, the plushie long forgotten and his fingernails scratching anything he could find. His gasps would lead to coughs, which would make him feel like he was drowning even more, which would make him gasp even more… It was a vicious cycle, and Mikey was honestly scared that he would pass out. He didn’t know what would be better, honestly. “Paolo. Paolo, calm down, you’re okay.” Don tried. He cupped his head to hold the mask in place, ignoring the scratches along his fingers. “I know you’re in pain, and you’re in water, but I assure you you are not on a lab table right now.” Paolo ignored him. His hands found the IV, and he scrambled to try and remove it. Mikey had to move his arms out of the way by the elbows. His eyes watered, his heart clenching at the poor sight in front of him. He blinked a few times to clear them up. Whatever he was feeling, he knew Paolo had it a thousand times worse, so he wouldn’t break. He wouldn’t break.
