very interesting talk by Julian Muller on the past few years of his career. It’s also a sad reminder how this “scene” works and punishes people who use their platform to speak on behalf of others who don’t have a voice.

"George Bush selects his favorite country records live on NTS" coming soon

Despite the distraction from the main topic, these questions will resurface if new artists or platforms emerge involving people with a problematic past, whether it's the IOF or ICE.

These scenarios are mathematically inevitable.

Does anyone remember when we analysed how many Black and brown artists were given the opportunity to create an RA mix when Resident Advisor was actually influential enough to impact someone's music career?
October 12, 2025 at 5:04 PM
Does anyone even care about RA anymore? They were finished even before the pandemic started. Then they received their infamous £750,000, which might have given them a financial boost, but the open letter to RA made it clear to everyone in the industry that RA is finished.

If Keinemusik had sold their 60,000 tickets for their Berlin event through Resident Advisor, the article would never have been published.
October 10, 2025 at 7:24 PM
It's ironic that the DJs and platforms who consider themselves the sole arbiters of the so-called underground nightlife industry have so much to say about Keinemusik and their fans.
October 10, 2025 at 7:16 PM
Ultimately, the question is whether we should allow former IOF personnel to occupy key positions in our industry.
October 10, 2025 at 7:00 PM
One issue that has clearly arisen with hardened fronts is whether the nightlife industry should welcome former IOF personnel and promote them as key players within the industry. The same has been true of Boiler Room, HÖR and the Roi Perez situation.

Radio Slave's campaign to make techno unpolitical again isn't surprising if you were around during the pandemic and heard him on that podcast.

RA hit piece on Keinemusik really reads like a desperate attempt to appeal to Berghain purists in the hope that they will see RA as the voice of the underground. It's a calculated and desperate move to stay relevant.

Out of Elon Musk, Drake and Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk is the only one who didn't get into Berghain.

Johnny XX playing the together for Palestine gig this month while also playing Berghain next month is absolutely sending me sgkkjfssskkd

Should DJs use their platform to get involved with politics? Or social issues? Should clubs or platforms like RA do the same? Or should they just focus on music?
August 17, 2025 at 8:17 PM
The nightlife industry is really just a collection of nepo babies, cowards, fraudsters who all profit from a few very talented individuals. How else can you explain why the biggest artists seem to have no opinions about what's going on in the world outside of their DJ persona?

Can we agree that the terms scene or community are outdated when referring to nightlife?

The rightwing extremist “wolf salute” displayed by the Turkish DJ Mahmut Orhan
July 10, 2025 at 4:05 PM
Mahmut Orhan made the shape of a wolf's head with his
fingers on stage at a gig he played recently. The gesture is associated with the Turkish
far right.

It appears that it’s not the first incident of this nature, having seen reports of similar
incidents at his shows previously.

Keinemusik are one of the most successful examples of dance music’s transformation from a space of energy and resistance into a sleek, consumable product. They are the sound of Berghain’s door policy being discussed at a Dubai rooftop party.

If Helen from Wales would’ve been at a Keinemusik show “the scene” would’ve had a meltdown and they would push out dozens of podcasts by Monday.

We need more Keinemusik stans at shows the BBC refuses to broadcast.
