The inaugural Burren Archaeology Festival took place over the weekend. We had an exceptional turnout and the response to experts, speakers, and demonstrators was fantastic. Thanks to everyone who participated, volunteered, and helped make the event possible.

See you in 2026!

One of the options The Hare's Corner participants can chose is to have a 'Plan for Nature' carried out on their land by an ecology specialist provided by Burrenbeo Trust. In this video, Maeve Ryan talk through the process 💚

For thousands of years, Burren farmers have herded their cattle onto ‘winterage’ pastures in the limestone uplands where they spend the winter grazing.

This ancient ‘transhumance’ tradition is synonymous with the Burren and is key to the survival of the region’s famous flora and fauna.

We had two beautiful walks with Jesmond
Harding (Butterfly Conservation Ireland) last weekend
and saw some of Ireland's rarest butterflies. The
Pearl-bordered Fritillary is Ireland's rarest butterfly and
only found in the Burren 🦋

The Shrill Carder Bee is one of the rarest bees in Ireland. While it was once more widespread in Ireland, it is now found almost exclusively in the Burren due to the flower-rich grassland present here 💚
