I wouldn't generally crop my model's head out of a shot, as I have here with @ayeonnagabrielle.com, but I was focused on the interplay of water and skin. I liked this one best, but her eyes were awkwardly mid-blink. This, then, is the compromise.

Charisma Davis lifestyle models a bright orange 60s-era Lamborghini. I've been playing with light overlays this summer, and while the in-camera version of was sensibly exposed, I wanted that bleached-out feel of a summer heathaze. Still new to this kind of editing, but think it came out pretty well.

I've been playing with light overlays this summer, and while the in-camera version of was sensibly exposed, I wanted that bleached-out feel of a summer heathaze. Still new to this kind of editing, but think it came out pretty well.

By its nature, a location like this is visually busy, and you go there specifically to capture some of the flavor of it. That competes with compositional simplicity, and it's tough to find the right level of visual clutter. I think we did okay.

In addition to being a photographer, I'm my family's photo archivist. Every so often I get some negatives from family member, which I dutifully scan. This happens to be my own father—now passed away—at Schiphol in 1971, preparing to return to the States after a string of overseas deployments.

For this shoot with @rayvenrjackson.bsky.social last summer, the goal was to portray the thrill of a self-dare; the exhilaration of transgressing by stripping naked outdoors, coupled with the heart-stopping fear of getting caught. She nailed it.

Prepping for a shoot tomorrow; I needed to pull these off the memory card. Taken last month, during a two-day power outage, without even my dead phone to keep me company. Nothing to do but tend a fire to keep the house above freezing. I amused myself by taking #macro shots of the fire.
