Threads breaking the heart of newsrooms everywhere. Not surprising given the history of FB and news. Personally, I think this is a mistake. News/news discussion and news distribution was an important part of what made Twitter so powerful in the moments of breaking news (less now)

Major flaw of Threads is a basic tenet of a writing-based apps is you need a core user base of… writers. Or people who know how to write. This was key to twitter’s growth: journalists, weird twitter, comedians, people who can provide pith and insight not just Mountain Dew saying ‘new flavor ideas?’
One thing I definitely like about Bluesky vs. Threads is that Bluesky isn't wall-to-wall brand hell

If Threads becomes Twitter and BlueSky remains the private-only members group where social peacocking is frowned upon, I am ok with that. The level of intelligent conversation here is definitely way ahead of Twitter or other Twitter alts. Mass adoption usually means dumbing down.

There is definite mass #Twitter mourning. It's not full of hot-takes and pithy-for-likes comments. It's genuine sadness for the passing of the zeitgeist of novel human connection. Our worlds became bigger for a moment. And then they shrunk. It will remain a promise unfulfilled.

Anyone here ever lose access to #LinkedIn? I have been locked out of my account and have appealed - but it is taking forever. Have barely posted in years and no reason for it to happen ... but I do have 12+ years of contacts on there and would like it back. #help
