In early 2025 southern California was affected by a serious harmful algal bloom. Satellite data, such as that from Copernicus Sentinel-3 & others supports the monitoring & management of these blooms & their impacts bit.ly/4ndbsY0 @hayleyeversking.bsky.social @brloveday.bsky.social

This image shows a 'diatom bloom' off the California coast, captured by Sentinel-3 on April 6.
A toxin producing species (Pseudo-nitzschia) makes this a harmful algal bloom, impacting marine life along the coast. Our partners at NOAA have been monitoring the event, read more here: bit.ly/3GWOaom
