It is often too easy for adults to push forwards for neat, standard numerals, when for the child, the personal and cultural meanings predominate.

Why is there such an urge to move the youngest children to produce writing, or 'written' maths that is more appropriate for primary age children?!

Hard Truths isn’t an easy watch. But it is a wonderful and serious film.

Scorching, angry performance by Marianne Jean-Baptiste with great support from Michele Austin, and a strong cast all round. A lovely feel for the London locations too.

Hard Truths review – Marianne Jean-Baptiste’s blistering performance is the angry heart of Mike Leigh’s drama
Hard Truths review – Marianne Jean-Baptiste’s blistering performance is the angry heart of Mike Leigh’s drama
Playing a raging but inwardly terrified housewife, the actor and a fine supporting case are the intense focus of a story that cries out for closure Anyone who has ever heard the director Mike Leigh interviewed will know that he is not a man who is given…

In some parts of the world it’s Black History Month. But even if it’s not where you are - there is no wrong time to learn more about Black History. Our world would be a fairer place if we were better educated in this.

Please recommend books. #BlackHistoryMonth #EduSky @wakelet.bsky.social
