Sold my agency, now I'm helping other small business owners build themselves out of the day-to-day without exploiting your team.

A note to my agency owner and founder friends. If you're setting up accounts on apps and tools you want to retain access to after selling your company, do not use your branded email!

I got an email about a president's day sale this morning, and since I'm remodeling a bathroom, I wanted to go check out the discounts.

What is the late stage capitalism is wrong with this picture?!

SIX DOLLARS -- Wow, you really did something with this.

I'm rumbling with this, as well. I'm in the midst of an audience shift, which means that I'm more engaged online than I have been in years -- right at a time when I feel like our energy and attention is being intentionally hijacked on these platforms. I'm not sure what the answer is.

I've been reflecting on this, too. I am so worn out by take culture, and I don't think it's remotely helpful. We can't keep letting the right steal our attention and energy. We're allowing them to set the agenda on their terms, over and over again.

I thought this was an extremely kind and generous take. Not nearly what I’d say!

There is evidence that extreme wealth does the opposite - erodes morality by encouraging paranoia and cutting the wealthy off from community. Billionaire Wilderness is a great book examining this dynamic.

A huge influx of mental space previously spent on meal planning.

Probably with some side effects.

Can we all admit now that capitalism isn’t the best driver of innovation and creativity…

There’s something I need you to know - something that is true for every business owner, no matter what your long-term goals are…

Everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) would be better off if you built yourself out of your business.

Can't decide which was worse today. Realizing that my architect made every single interior wall too small in the plans I already submitted to the city for my home renovation...

Or reading that Vulture article.

@hankgreen.bsky.social I can’t stop thinking about the post you did a year or so ago on Tik Tok creator compensation vs YouTube. With the app probably leaving the US, I’m curious: Is YouTube still better in terms of pay? What would be the benefits and drawbacks or Tik Tokkers moving to shorts?
January 13, 2025 at 8:54 PM
As momentum builds to divest from Meta, I wonder how many Tik Tokkers are not already on Instagram. If you already have a community over there, it’s difficult to give up, but reach is 💯 pay to play, meaning there’s little value for new accounts.

Folks not joining at all is the best play.
