Issue #11 is out now!
Coming up this week at Building Songs: I discuss how the creative process triggers the subconscious mind. It is almost like the act of creating opens a portal to another dimension. Writers sometimes call this phenomenon the “leap”. The newsletter drops Friday!

Coming up this week at Building Songs... I’m an architect, so I draw professionally. I drew Fiona Apple’s “Valentine” earlier this year. Join me as I explore the song’s world building at the scale of of a valentine, a table, and a footprint.

I am hoping to write a newsletter about record stores, but I don’t have any personal connections. Do any of you own/work at/shop at a cool record store? Could you connect me with someone who I could interview for a piece on the architecture of record shops?

I launched my Substack, Building Songs, about a month ago, where I write about the intersection of music and design. I am glad this topic interests so many.

Last week's newsletter details my music residency in Kathmandu, Nepal, nine years ago. Which has informed much of my practice today.
