I've studied 5000+ home property listings and found 6 close to being in the running (real scarcity of, say, in-home multi-room recording studios). Preexisting home prices make a custom build a cost effective possibility, especially to create a charming, cozy smaller home (<1800sqft) on a bigger lot.

I infrequently get a new computer so I'm always pleased by how starkly faster and therefore more useful they've become compared to my previous ones for tackling things like editing footage or composing large orchestrations with lots of tracks.

Important and helpful to decide and define what success is for you. It is okay to be successful.

If you've cared for elderly family before they passed, you've already experienced insight into older age. My wisdom from doing it twice: try to plan retirement early - 50 to 70-75 you have ability and energy for things like travel, 70-75+ things slow considerably, 75-85+ medical costs often kick in.

I'm going to spend this week playing games to try to get my backlog down. It's up at 96 titles again. I'm aiming to halve it this year, if possible, but I get distracted by projects, so time will tell.

The road of Life is weird and winding at certain points. Never give up. I'm amused to have come full circle to be doing the things I said I'd end up doing if I could fulfill my untethered aspirations back as a teenager. You just never know what lies ahead along the journey.

Time within a lifetime is a finite ever-dwindling core resource, one in which all personal endeavors must dwell and therefore best enjoyed purposefully and meaningfully.

I really appreciate why location scouts have so much fun mixed with frustration at finding the best-suited indoor and outdoor locales, especially when it comes to the impact on how much such selections need or don't need to be altered or augmented by set decoration.

Brr. In this extra chilly subzero weather, deer show up from the forest and plop down under the eaves and sleep up against the warmth of the house.

I like the impact of being able to give scenes an extra boost of palette - not merely thru color grading the footage afterward but also thru the lighting, locale, props, makeup, and costumes.

A balmy -5 F/-20.5 C without windchill... definitely shorts weather for running out to check the mail, especially if you grew up accustom to the cold.

Lights that have internal rechargeable batteries or that are built to have batteries attached easily are such a helpful way to add flexibility and convenience, like shooting out in the boonies, lighting tight spaces or spaces without plug-in access, or just to avoid a noisy generator.

Some gear is really indispensable for efficiency like having rechargeable microphone headsets that are easily paired between a host one and guest ones to give to crew that may be up to 500m/1640 ft apart during a shoot.

In getting what you want out of life, the most empowering question is often: what is the next step?
January 20, 2026 at 4:09 AM
One step at a time, piece by piece, effort, learning from each success and failure, persistence along the way, trial and error, course corrections, expanding skills, acquiring insight, making steady progress - it all leads to building dreams into reality.

So much of life gets easier if during endeavors you consider the challenge to be part of the fun and not part of the grind.
