Watching the reactions to the assassination of Charlie Kirk, it struck me that it sounded like hearing about people on the left and right were talking about two different people. And they both seemed to be right. So I dug into that and what it means for our politics.

And also, even if you buy that students are consumers, drop the class. You get the syllabus on day 1. Don't like what's in it? Drop the class. I definitely dropped classes in college because the syllabus wasn't what I expected from the description. That happens.
The idea that an instructor can and *should* be fired for daring to teach something not explicitly mentioned in course catalog is the pinnacle of the "students as customers" idiocy that's been steadily destroying American universities for decades now.

Goes without saying that if you're praising the person who shot Charlie Kirk there is something seriously fucking wrong with you. Political violence is never okay. I fiercely disagree w/everything Kirk believes. But you beat bad ideas with ideas, never violence.
